Views from Mountain View

Our SFC chapter held an activity last weekend in Mountain View Resort. It is located in a mountain barangay and provides scenic views of the cities of Cebu, Mandaue and Lapu-lapu.

As Lady Luck would have it, I had a minor accident as soon as I arrived in the venue. I had some wounds close to my left eye. I use my left eye in peering through my view finder. Nevertheless, I was able to take a considerable number of pictures. And since I did not sleep, I was also able to monitor the progression of the early morning light... (Heavens also sent doctors. They rushed to my side a few minutes after the accident and provided first aid... Unfortunately, I was not able to get their names. To them, I am grateful...)

So here are the views...

An afternoon view of downtown Cebu, with the port and the island of Mactan...

Southeastern part of Cebu, with the tail-end of Mactan Island...

The sun was starting to go down... Mandaue and Lapu-lapu views, with the Hilton building in the distance...

The night has fallen, and the city lights had become alive... Mandaue and Lapu-lapu, with the Old Bridge...

Another look at the Cebu Port...

The moon has risen... This is the last picture I took before my friends brought me to the hospital to have my wounds further assessed.

When I came back from the hospital, I did not feel sleepy and decided to wait for the sunrise... An early morning shot, just when the sky was starting to show some orange tints...

I tinkered with my camera's white balance and did some spot metering on the orange tints. And here are the results...

This is mainly Mandaue...

Still Mandaue and Lapu-lapu views, with the Hilton building in the distance...

A vertical shot of the same scene above...

So that's it... I hope you enjoyed the pics... :)

  1. kuya mark, edited ba 'to ng photoshop/fireworks/o kahit ano? yun yung gusto ko pa pag-aralan sana.

siguro portrait yan! (aw, at nanghula pa ako.)

akala ko madali lang, para pala akong seven-year old na kumuha ng college exam.. ang dami kong di alam.

I have set the white balance to a much cooler temperature, so nagkaroon ng bluish cast ang picture... :) Same effect could probably be achieved when you set your WB to "tungsten" balance (yung may symbol na light bulb).... I hope this helps... Salamat!

At kontakin nyo ako... Hehehe... :)

  6. Well, in the strictest sense, masasabi mong edited ito because I experimented on my camera's white balance... Pero walang post processing ito (the technical name of what we commonly think of as "editing") - kasi di rin ako marunong, except sa paglalagay ng napakaganda kong watermark at resizing... hehehe...

  25. Ah. Ganun ba! Yung iba kase, ineedit pa nila yung lighting and contrast ng photos. Hehe, post processing pala ito! Another term! Hehe!

Waaah! Nakakalula pala pag sobrang dami ng gustong i-absorb. Aw.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Oo nga AC... it is said that the horizon symbolizes tranquility... :)

  33. love the changes in the sky Mark, it is great that you were still able to bring out the best out of a mishap, hope you are okay now after the accident. i really like the series of pictures you got from the progression of lights.

  34. Hi Mark, I hope the wounds are all healed up.

I was looking at your photos taken after you have adjusted your WB. Bulb yan 'no? The color gave it away. Bulb nga ba? hehehe

    ReplyDelete
  36. Thanks Miss Beth... I am okay now. The wounds were all healed up and bandages were no longer needed. :)

    ReplyDelete
  37. Salamat Ferdz... Oo nga sulit ang hindi ko pagtulog... Nakatsamba!

Hehehe... I had to complete some important responsibilities first bago ako pumunta ng hospital... :)

:) I knew that by using the tungsten balanced WB, I would have a blue cast to my pic... And the blue cast I think worked well... :)

    ReplyDelete
  39. Yep, it did. Worked well, Kapatid. Pag gabi kasi maganda yung blue cast eh. Na-try ko na rin minsan.

Sige, bisita ka rito... At i-include mo sa itinerary mo yung island hopping at visit sa Bohol... :)

    ReplyDelete
  44. Hehehe... Ax, aralin mo muna ang tamang exposure at composition. Because once you have mastered these two, hindi mo na kailangan masyado ang editing softwares... :)

  45. Take care, Mark. I enjoyed seeing these pictures. What a wonderful spot to photograph. Hope your injuries were mild.
